Non-Profit Dedicated Helping Foster Children Looking to Expand into Memphis-Area
Local & National News | April 27, 2023
More than 1,200 children are in foster care in Shelby County

JustMyMemphis is excited to announce the arrival of Isaiah 117 House to Shelby County, as the non-profit organization expands into the Memphis area. With over 1,200 children in foster care in the county, Isaiah 117 House aims to provide physical and emotional support for children who are awaiting foster placement.

The community-wide kickoff event will take place at Harding Academy on April 30 at 3 p.m. The family-friendly event is open to all who are interested in learning more about the organization and will include a talk from founder and executive director Ronda Paulson, as well as refreshments, merchandise sales, and information tables.

Isaiah 117 House offers a warm and comforting home for children who have been recently removed from their homes by the Department of Children's Services, rather than waiting in an office. Trained and compassionate volunteers provide comfort and care during what can be a very traumatic time, while paperwork is filed and arrangements are made.

With homes in several states including Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Ohio, Texas, and Virginia, as well as thirteen homes serving East and Middle Tennessee, the Memphis home will be the first in West Tennessee. Paulson encourages everyone to attend the kickoff event, stating that "This is a great opportunity to learn more about Isaiah 117 House and how to partner with us in making a transformational impact in the lives of children in Shelby County".

About Isaiah 117 House

Isaiah 117 House is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that provides physical and emotional support in a safe and loving home for children awaiting foster care placement. Currently, when a child is removed in a county without an Isaiah 117 House, the child must wait in the child welfare services office. The child is often dirty, hungry, tired, scared and unable to bring any personal possessions. Isaiah 117 House allows for that same child to never go to an office, but rather a home with loving volunteers to care for them. Isaiah 117 House provides for that child’s needs, whatever they may be, in these critical moments between removal and placement. Isaiah 117 House has locations in Tennessee, Indiana, Georgia, Florida, Ohio, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia. To learn more about Isaiah 117 House, visit www.isaiah117house.com
